Business plays a crucial role in achieving the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals, and a diversity of skills and mindsets are required among those who make the final decisions that affect not only the companies they serve, but also society at large. Thus, improving the gender balance on corporate boards and in top management teams is critical, while at the same time supporting the Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

At this event, with a selected group of participants from Norwegian and Chinese businesses, board chairs and members, corporate CEOs, relevant organizations, and potential female board member candidates, we will take a closer and comparative look at the state of play in the two countries. We will focus on researchers, investors, and companies' perspectives, to exchange thoughts, views and ideas on what concrete actions taken in the two countries that have proven effective and/or ineffective. We will also look at the role of investors and boards, and how they can and should contribute to help remove invisible/intangible barriers to recruiting more women in decision-making positions in the financial industry.
