As the hot summer days come to an end, we eagerly welcome the refreshing days of autumn. To celebrate, NBA China, supported by the Embassy and Innovation Norway, invites you to join us for the NBA After Summer Gathering at the Prince Palace on August 29th.
This event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy drinks and food while reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. With recent personnel changes among the Team Norway Partners, this gathering provides a wonderful opportunity to greet and welcome the new members of the Team Norway.
In addition, we are delighted to invite Guo Shan, Partner at Hutong Research, as our special guest, where she will provide an insightful update on the general outlook of China's economy. In a time of global economic uncertainty and rapid change, this update will offer valuable perspectives on China's economic trajectory, covering key trends, challenges, and opportunities that could impact your business strategies in the months ahead.

Speakers
Shan Guo
Partner at Hutong Research
Shan has over a decade of experience in analyzing China’s economic policies and advising multinationals as well as financial institutions. With expertise across a wide range of domains, Shan helps clients connect the dots and identify the key changes underneath cyclical dynamics. Recently, Shan has been writing extensively about the green and tech industries as China's new engines for growth.
Prior to Hutong Research, Shan was a partner of Plenum China Research 2019-2023, covering industrial policies with a focus on energy transition, as well as other structural changes in China such as those in the housing and labor markets.
Before Plenum, Shan worked at Rhodium Group, where she examined China’s economic reform in depth and designed quantitative indicators to track progress. Via years of close monitoring, Shan has gained comprehensive insights in many sectors including trade, investment, innovation, climate, even antitrust and land.
Earlier, Shan worked at Deloitte, where she helped multinationals navigate tax rules across the Pacific with strategic planning and structuring. There, Shan developed first-hand experience in cross-border transactions and how policies affect firms’ financials.
Shan holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University. Shan lived in Hong Kong for over ten years, speaks Cantonese, and had also lived in New York, London, and Xi’an—her hometown.
