Over the past decade, advances in technology, scale-up and industrial experience have led to the emergence of several amazing clean energy technologies. Wind, solar, battery, ammonia, methanol, biofuels, nuclear and other renewables sources. These technologies have reached a point where they are, or will soon be, economically competitive with their fossil fuel counterparts.

As the maritime industry actively explores alternative energies and technologies to achieve decarbonization and meet environmental targets, stakeholder collaboration, regulatory support and technological innovation will drive this transition.

Against this backdrop, the Marintec Innovation Conference, a stimulating two-day conference, will bring together experts from the maritime and energy industries to discuss the alternative energy and fuels and its impact on low carbon shipping. Taking place in Renaissance Zhongshan Park Hotel, Shanghai on 12-13 December.

This year, NBA China is proud to be a supporting partner of the Marintec Innovation Conference. Norway brings a strong presence to the conference, with five leading Norwegian companies—DNV, Jotun, Kongsberg Maritime, Ulstein, and Wikborg Rein—actively contributing as speakers. They will share their expertise, insights, and experience in green maritime innovation, exemplifying Norway's commitment to sustainable maritime solutions.

Join us to engage with thought leaders, explore cutting-edge innovations, and collaborate toward a cleaner and greener maritime future.

The two-day conference will comprise three sessions to explore and advance knowledge in the following key topics:

Theme: Alternative Energy and Fuels Contribute To Low-carbon Maritime

Addressing the challenge of the low-carbon shipping means recognizing that in many cases it is a matter of revolution, rather than the slow evolution to which shipping has been accustomed in the past. The introduction of alternative energy sources and fuels will be the fundamental path to achieving the decarbonization goal. Effective collaboration is key to success.

Session I – Review and Outlook (12 Dec )

Advancing is a revolution, collaborating is an evolution. Achieving the decarbonization goal will require a radical rethink on a global scale. This calls for governments, financiers, shipowners, and regulators to collaborate and find innovative ways to shape the renewable energy landscape. Together we can make a difference.

• Alternative Energy Transition Outlook and Maritime Forecast

• Low-Carbon Emission Regulations and the Role of Alternative Energy & Fuels

• Challenge and Opportunity, the Sustainability of Maritime Decarbonization

• Offshore and Shipping – Opportunities for Nuclear

Session II – Sailing Efficiency - Shipowner's Perspective (12 Dec )

Shipowners recognize that if they do not invest in new clean technologies, clean energy sources and digitalization, they are going to be left behind. As the energy transition progresses, improving fuel efficiency will become even more crucial. Greater collaboration is the answer, and ship owners are ready to act.

• Maritime Decarbonization

• New Fuels Green Methanol and Ammonia Fuels

• Nuclear Technology to Support the Maritime Energy Transition

Session III: Industry-Chain Support (13 Dec )

The shipping industry is on a path to decarbonization, with all parties recognizing the importance of this endeavor. It encompasses all stakeholders and often supply chains and requires collaboration if significant challenges are to be overcome. These can be met together.

• Production and Sustainable Supply

• Fuel Refueling and Port Facilities

• Digital Solutions in Maritime Sustainability Transition

• Financing the Green Energy Transition
