The Norwegian Business Association China, The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai and Innovation Norway, are pleased to invite representatives of Norwegian companies to an industrial site visit to Liyang, Jiangsu Province on 24 November.

Jiangsu is an important province for inland waterway transportation and related industries in China. Against the backdrop of the green transition in the transport sectors, the visit aims to provide Norwegian companies with first-hand insights into the development of green shipping in inland waterways in Jiangsu, including developments in green vessels, battery technologies and related industrial supply chains.

The program will include a visit to CATL's manufacturing facility (tour of the production line) and Kaiyang Shipbuilding. CATL's Jiangsu base is a World Economic Forum Lighthouse Factory, equipped with cutting-edge battery technologies including cell-to-pack (CTP), high safety maritime battery systems, energy density optimization and advanced battery thermal management. It features highly automated smart production lines for power and energy storage batteries applicable for inland waterway vessels.

Kaiyang Shipbuilding: New-Energy Ship Manufacturing Base Project is the first new energy ship base in Jiangsu, specializing in the design, integration and construction of new-energy inland vessels. It has rich practical experience in electric propulsion, battery-shaft integration and whole-vessel energy management for inland waterway ships.

Beyond learning about local industry developments, the visit is intended to strengthen mutual understanding between Norwegian and Chinese industry stakeholders, facilitate exchanges with local companies and industry representatives, and explore potential opportunities for future cooperation. In this regard, we will also organize a conference to introduce Jiangsu's new-energy ship industry and the electrification of its inland waterways. We will offer you the opportunity to present your company and interact with shipyard management and local industry representatives.
